Senate gives INEC December 10 ultimatum to conduct re-run polls


Report said the lawmakers threatened to suspend plenary sittings if INEC fails to conduct the re-run on or before the deadline.




The Senate has threatened to suspend plenary sittings if the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does not conduct re-run elections in Rivers State soon, Vanguard reports.

It was reported that the upper chamber made the call to INEC on Wednesday, November 2.
The lawmakers were said to have given the electoral body until Saturday, December 10, 2016, to conduct the re-run.
