Rivers Rerun ElectionSen. Abe commends NASS for asking INEC to conclude poll

Abe also urged Wike to provide a conducive and peaceful environment for the rerun election to hold.

Sen. Magnus Abe has commended the National Assembly for directing the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conclude all re-run elections in the country by Dec. 10, 2016.

Abe, via a statement issued by Mr Parry Benson, his media aide, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, said the directive was necessary because the legislative duration of the positions had been cut short due to the delay.
He also said that the postponement of the elections did not serve the interest of Rivers people, and urged Rivers governor to provide a conducive environment for the election to hold.
Abe, former Secretary to Rivers Government, said that he was prepared to cooperate with INEC and other stakeholders to have a peaceful, free and fair election.
He reiterated his philosophy of non-violence in elections, adding that youths should be dissuaded from violence and encouraged to embrace education.
Governor Nyesom Wike had also slammed INEC for its inability to conclude the rerun election over allegations of violence
